Choosing the Right Bike
Which Titus bike is right for me?

Titus mountain bikes are all about versatility.  Chose any of our models and you will be rewarded with a machine that allows you to expand your riding possibilities.  The question becomes: “Which Titus bike is right for me?”  We would like to suggest that you buy one of each. After all, you can never have too many Titus bikes…right?

Now back to reality.  If you can choose only one, we want to make sure that you are getting the right bike for the places you ride, the conditions you ride in, and most importantly, the type of riding you like to do.  With that said, we have developed the following guide listing each of our models, and the best uses for those models.

Racer-XRacer-X:
There is no other cross-country racing frame on the market that features the world class pedaling efficiency and the lightweight of the Racer-X, yet still has capabilities way beyond the confines of a well groomed racecourse.  With nearly 4” of rear wheel travel, an incredibly strong frame design, and suspension tuning that is optimized per frame size to handle riders from 90lbs all the way up to 300, this bike is the perfect all around mountain bike for certain riders.  So is the Racer-X the bike for you? Read on!

    • If you are first and foremost a cross-country racer, or simply crave the lightest weight, most efficient suspension bike you can buy, then the choice is easy; The Racer-X is for you.
    • If you use your bike for general riding, but also enjoy endurance riding such as marathon type events and 24-hour races, then the Racer-X is hard to beat.
    • Even though you might not be racing, we have many customers that really enjoy the fitness aspect of riding.  If you are the type of rider that trains hard and are always pushing to become faster and more fit, then the Racer-X is the bike to have. Riders who really enjoy long climbs love the Racer-X!
    • If you consider yourself an “all-around” mountain biker that wants the one bike that can do it all and you do the majority of your riding in an area where the trails are relatively smooth, then the Racer-X is a great choice.  Keep in mind that an “all around” mountain bike does not mean the same thing in Illinois as it does in Whistler, BC.  If you live in the Midwest, or somewhere similar where the dirt is real and the consequences of having less then 5” of travel aren’t life threatening, then the Racer-X makes for the perfect “do most anything” bike. However, if you live in an area such as Moab, Fruita, Phoenix, or any place where the terrain tends to be less forgiving and more extreme, and you are not considering the Racer-X as your race bike, then it is time to look at one of our other Titus models.
      Racer-X 29er

Racer-X 26 or 29er:

We consider 29ers to be a great choice for riders over 6’3” whether they are racing or general trail riding.  Big wheels work great for big riders.  For tall riders, the Racer-X 29er is a revelation.  Fit, ride, and handling; It’s all there for the larger rider.

For riders that are between, 5’9” to 6’2”, the 29er makes for a great addition to your fleet.  29er wheels roll over obstacles better, maintain momentum extremely well and stick in the corners like nothing else.  For the average height rider, you lose a little in quick acceleration, and technical ability, but this is just all the more reason to keep a 26” wheel Titus bike in your fleet as well.

Moto-LiteMoto-Lite:
We like to think of the Moto-Lite as a Racer-X on steroids.  With more travel, more stable handling, more tire clearance, and a more robust chassis, the Moto-Lite lets you tackle more extreme terrain while still keeping much of the pedaling performance, great climbing ability, and precise handling of the Racer-X. Think of the Moto-Lite as a 5” trail bike with a racing soul.  So is the Moto-Lite right for you? Let’s find out.

    • If all around riding from the steepest climbs to the gnarliest descents define what mountain biking is for you, then the Moto-Lite is THE bike to have.  With 5’ (or 4) of rear wheel travel and the ability to run up to a 145mm travel adjust fork, the Moto-Lite is one bike that really can do it all.  The Moto-Lite does well in everything from the occasional XC or 24 hour race to trails just shy of ski resort black diamond runs.  If this sounds like your cup of tea, then there really isn’t a need to look any further.  Go get yourself a Moto-Lite!
    • If you travel with your bike to different locations with varied terrain, you cannot go wrong with the Moto-Lite on any trip.  Whether you wind up climbing for hours in the Colorado Rockies, ripping down the rock-strewn trails of Moab, or really have no idea what you might encounter on your next ride, there simply isn’t a better tool for the job.  It is the Swiss Army knife of mountain bikes.

Super-MotoSuper-Moto:
The Super-Moto sets the benchmark for pedaling performance from a long travel bike.   It feels just as comfortable on ski runs and stunt parks as it does on backcountry trails, and the most technical climbs. If the Moto-Lite is the Swiss Army Knife of mountain bikes, then our Super-Moto is the fully loaded Leatherman, but does that make it the right bike for you?

    • If you’re the type of trail rider that’s always taking the most difficult line, or prefers to jump over something that most people would have a hard time walking, then the Super-Moto would be your best choice. It’s like having the pedaling performance of our Moto-Lite in a more substantial package with seemingly bottomless travel.
    • If you live in an area where the terrain is unforgiving with big rocks, big drops, roots, mud or any combination of the above then go with the Super-Moto.  Whether you are riding the most extreme obstacles your local trails have to offer, doing shuttle runs at a ski resort, or even doing some local downhill racing, the Super-Moto will not leave you wanting more.

Eleven

Eleven/Full Custom Racer Titanium

When it comes to hard tails vs. full suspension, most riders know what they want.  Full suspension bikes offer a level of comfort, speed and control that cannot be had on a hard tail bike.  On the flip side, nothing feels as solid and hooked up as a well made hard tail.  It’s the feeling that every ounce of your energy is going directly from your legs to the pedals. Whether you are considering a hard tail as your racing bike, a high performance single speed or just enjoy the simplicity of the design, our latest greatest titanium hard tails are an excellent choice for your primary ride or as a needed addition to your growing Titus fleet.
